Tips on throwing a Halloween party

We’re sure you’ve got your costume down pat for this year’s Halloween. So we’ve got you covered for the next important step on your Halloween to-do-list...

Food:

Get a parent to help you make Spooky Eyeball Tacos! Here's how:

Ingredients:

½ kg ground beef
1 (2 ½ tablespoon) package taco seasoning mix
12 taco shells
¾ cup salsa
¾ cup sour cream
1 tomatoes, small cubes
1 small head lettuce, sliced into small confetti squares
1 can-large black olives, sliced
1 cup cheese, shredded & long (cheddar is good, but a Mexican blend would be good too)

Instructions:

  1. Mix meat and seasoning mix. Shape half of the mixture into 24 (2.5cm) balls; place in 15x10x1-inch baking pan and bake at 180°C for 15 to 20 minutes or until cooked through
  2. Brown the remaining seasoned ground beef and add salsa
  3. Fill each taco shell with a thin layer of ground beef, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes
  4. Position 2 meatballs inside the taco shell and add a dollop of sour cream to each
  5. Garnish with olives to make “eyeballs”
  6. Spread the cheese out along to the top for stringy hair

Now, for the decoration:

  • Use a bunch of cotton ball bags (preferably the type that you need to tear apart instead of pre-made cotton balls) to delicately spread and hang from your door frames and around the window sills of your house. Spread them on every corner you think is relevant such as cabinets, staircase bars, chairs etc.
  • Cut out spider templates from black cardboard and stick them onto your cotton webs around the house
  • Near the front door, attach a string to one of your spiders and hang it from the top of the door ceiling
  • Get a parent to help you carve out a freaky face from a used watermelon
  • Put together a playlist of eerie music that you can play near the entrance of where your visitors come through
  • If you want to go all out, hire a smoke machine near the entrance or on the dance floor!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! MWAHAHAHAHA...
