Chargebacks

Chargebacks

Where you are unable to resolve a disputed transaction with a vendor, you may be able to request a chargeback. Chargebacks are a bank-initiated mechanism to reverse a transaction on a Credit Card or VISA Debit Card.  Not all situations are the same, some common situations where a chargeback may be possible are:

  • A transaction is not recognised, and the cardholder does not believe that they made the transaction
  • A transaction is fraudulent
  • The transaction was for an amount greater than what was agreed on
  • The goods or services were never received

It can be wise to try and resolve the dispute with the vendor first – this can often be the simplest and fastest way to resolve a dispute.  However, that is not always practical or successful and if you need assistance in lodging a chargeback, please contact us on 1300 132 328.

It’s important that you report any problems that you see on your Credit or Visa Debit Card as quickly as possible as there are timeframes that apply to when a chargeback can be lodged.
